Beekman



Formed in 2012 at the 5th Estate sessions in Brooklyn, and named for a street in their Brooklyn neighborhood, Beekman is a collective endeavor by an international quartet with a true group identity.

Their latest CD, "Beekman Vol. 3, Live in San Francisco" was recorded in performance at Chez Hanny in 2017!

Pablo Menares is a Chilean bass player based in Brooklyn, NY. He is one of the most highly regarded bass players in Chile. Since moving to New York City in 2009, he has worked widely in both Jazz and Latin music.

He has performed in many of New York’s notable jazz venues, including The Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Jazz Gallery, Smoke, Smalls, Fat Cat, 55 Bar, Lincoln Center, Steinway Hall, and Carnegie Hall. He has toured extensively in Europe, Asia, North, Central and South America.

Among the luminaries with whom he has performed are Sam Yahel, Arturo O’Farrill, Randy Brecker, David Kikoski, Bob Moses, Greg Osby, Melissa Aldana, Claudia Acuña, and Francisco Mela.

A Massachusetts native and graduate of both Harvard and Berklee, Kyle Nasser has established himself as one of the most technically fluid saxophonists and inventive composers of his generation. Since moving to New York City in 2010, he has played at some of the city’s most prestigious venues, including the Blue Note, Iridium, and Cornelia St. Cafe, and has toured in the U.S. and South America.

Nasser has shared the stage with jazz luminaries such as Jim Hall, Hank Jones, Joe Lovano, Dave Douglas, and Ben Monder.

Nasser’s music stands out for its seamless integration of classical forms and techniques with jazz language and phrasing.

Yago Vazquez is a pianist from Spain. He studied at the Music Conservatory of Vigo, SPJ Pontevedra and Estudio, Escola de Musica (Spain) and moved to NYC in 2008 to study at The New School.

He has toured extensively around the world and performed in some of the most prestigious jazz clubs in New York City (Blue Note, Smalls Jazz Club, Jazz Gallery, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Jazz Standard, Smoke, Cornelia Street Cafe, etc).

He has been featured on over a dozen albums and has performed with musicians like Reggie Workman, Billy Harper, Jesse Davis, Jamie Baum, Gilad Hekselman, Joe Martin, David Schnitter, Ingrid Jensen, and Brad Shepik.

Yago has released one album as a leader, “Chorale” (Free Code Jazz Records 2011) and is a member of “Stream”, a trio project that he co-leads with bassist Scott Lee and drummer Jeff Hirshfield.

Originally from Santiago de Chile, drummer Rodrigo Recabarren is widely recognized as one of the leaders of a prolific generation of Chilean Jazz performers. He holds a BA in percussion from the Pontificia Universidad de Chile, and a Masters in Music from New York University.

In 2009 Rodrigo moved to New York City where he has worked with many important artists like Chris Potter, Kenny Barron, Wayne Krantz, Camila Meza, and Melissa Aldana.

Rodrigo also leads various bands. A few of them are “Mural”, “Peregrinos”, “Brooklyn Aliens” and “Novas Trio”. He is a Zildjian endorser since 2013.
