He has performed at many of the major music festivals: Montreux, Monterey, SF Jazz, Toronto, Montreal, Bergamo, San Jose, Healdsburg, Wels Music Unlimited ( AU ), and Saalfelden (AU).
He performed previously at Chez Hanny with Ron Vincent.
Since moving to the Bay Area from Los Angeles to attend UC Berkeley in
1994, Ben Stolorow has become one of the most in demand jazz
pianists in the
area both as a leader and sideman. He has performed at Yoshi’s, The
Jazzschool, and the Kuumbwa Jazz Center, at the Healdsburg and SF Jazz
Festivals, at Oakland’s Art and Soul Festival, and has also toured and
performed throughout Japan. He has performed with many great musicians
including Craig Handy, Akira Tana, Dayna Stephens, Lorca Hart, Andrew
Speight, Vince Lateano, Noel Jewkes, Michael O’Neill, and vocalist
Kenny Washington. Ben is also a faculty member of the Jazzschool in
Berkeley, CA.
He played Chez Hanny previously with Greg Abate, and Ron Vincent.
One of the most in demand bassists in the Bay Area, John
Wiitala
has played with Jessica Williams, James Moody, Benny Golson, Pete
Jolly, Joe Henderson, Akira Tana, Vince Lateano, Scott Hamilton, Bruce
Forman, Rebecca Parris, Wesla Whitfield, Madeline Eastman, and Jackie
Ryan, among many others.
John was heard previously at Chez Hanny with Faith Winthrop, Michele
Rosewoman, Patrick Wolff, Mark Levine, Peck Allmond, Scott
Barnhill, Harvey Wainapel, Erik Jekabson, Tim Armacost/David
Berkman, John Klopotowski, Dred Scott, and Janis Mann.
Drummer Ron Marabuto
grew up in the East Bay, playing with and greatly influenced by his
father, John Marabuto, a pianist and arranger busy and respected in the
Bay Area.
After graduating from UC Berkeley in 1974 Ron relocated to NYC 1977-87,
where he played with the likes of Pepper Adams, Roland Hanna, Tommy
Flanagan, Duke Jordan, Jerry Dodgion, Frank Wess, Steve Grossman, and
Sal Nistico.
Back in SF since 1987, he has been active with Bruce Forman, Smith
Dobson, Buddy Montgomery, Rob Schneiderman, Al Plank, Hal Stein, Calvin
Keys, Warren Gale, Noel Jewkes, Bob Kenmotsu, Gini Wilson, and Walter
Savage, among others.
Ron appeared previously at Chez Hanny with Chuck Metcalf, the Chuck
Metcalf Tribute, Mark Levine, Will Matthews, Chuck Manning, George
Cotsirilos, and the
Robb Fisher-Keith Saunders Trio.
